Kazan: public transport and details
The first time I was here ten years ago. Now it is a different city. The fact that this is one of the main Russian cities, and probably the third capital, I will not argue. The fact that for ten years, Kazan has become one of the most tourist cities, also not argue. Gastronomically and in terms of various modern buildings, Kazan is devoted to many millionaires - there is one. And why Kazan is popular with tourists and most locals - I understand. Coming from Ulyanovsk or Saratov is difficult not to envy the scale of construction and changes. But I do not like Kazan, but just as interesting as a phenomenon.
The coolest thing they have done for decades of wealth is public transportation. Surely Kazan will be able to poke me in a bunch of shortcomings. But when you come to a Russian city and you don’t see minibuses and “paziki” on the streets, you want to sing the praises of the city’s leaders, without going into details. In Kazan, they can be proud - in terms of transport, they are exactly the third capital, without any competitors.
For tourists, the subway is more an attraction, because if you don’t get out of the center, everything is walked. The metro runs from one part of the city to the other, crossing the center and the busiest places. There is no bias in one part of the city, as in Samara or Nizhny Novgorod.
Metro stations are decorated inconspicuously, but interspersed with national motifs. It's good. In Kazan, saved the black tokens. And so that the regular tokens did not go out of circulation as souvenirs for tourists - they released exactly the same, only in different colors.
Metro logo looks like pants and something between the legs.
Kazan is Europe, because cyclists are welcome in the subway. All in three languages - Russian, Tatar and English.
Now the trams. The composition consists entirely of new cars. At the moment, there are five routes.
The only thing you should get rid of in modern trams is a rudiment in the form of conductors. Although here, Kazan, well done - conductors are dressed in the color of public transport.
One line (route number 5) is considered as if the speed. But it is not completely isolated. It is also the longest - 25 km. and long - about an hour. Where stops are isolated, often pass to them through underground passages, which is not very convenient. In places, the stops look colorful - like they hit the ghetto.
Almost everywhere on the electronic scoreboard stops with the time of arrival of transport.
The trolleybus system is one of the oldest in Russia, it has been operating since 1948. Now in the city of 10 routes.
Buses took over the entire passenger traffic after canceling minibuses. Three quarters of all passengers carry almost 70 bus routes. There are a lot of complaints about them - inconvenient, they finish driving early, drivers drive. By the way, buses and trams have a single livery in red. It is strange that the trolley is not with them. Most importantly, they drive on the dedicated lanes. Motorists have already taught them not to drive in, so that during rush hour you can ride buses.
An interesting detail is the walkie-talkie in the hand of the conductor. She handed over to the driver whether someone comes out at the bus stop, or he can pass without stopping. It was on a country route.
With fines in Kazan, all strictly. Mobile cameras are set even in the city. And all the drivers in general speak about country roads in the republic. There are a lot of cameras on the roads, and they all measure the average speed of the car. Those who do not know about it then get penalties in envelopes.
The main Kazan sight.
The mosque of norms, below hafiz all day reads the chant of the Quran.
The territory around the Kremlin is very uncomfortable. Too much empty space. Wide road, underground passage, the ugly new building. This pyramid is generally an insult to the Kremlin ensemble and the whole of Kazan.
It is not clear what will be done with the old stadium. He is also opposite the Kremlin. Now it has a shopping and office center and a huge parking lot. Not sure that Kazan needs two large stadiums. They then go to the new stadium. It would be possible in its place to make a steep park connecting with the embankment.
At the new stadium, I was also, but about him a separate post.
Kazan is such a tourist city that they have a committee on souvenirs.
The best shaurma and falafel Syrians.
Despite the fact that in Kazan, Russia is more than Tatar. It is the elements of the Tatar culture that attract and remember travelers. It is commendable that Tatars in every possible way cultivate this, starting from supporting the Tatar language, ending with a young business that produces socks with Tatar ornaments.
I am very thrilled that everything is duplicated in Tatar.
Chuck-chak, Echpochmak, Gubadia, Elesh, Talkysh Kaleve, Zur Belish. All this is easy to find in cafes and local markets. Kystyby from the main Tatar supermarket Behetle.
Girls in headscarves, grandfathers in astrakhan hats - these details are remembered and then characterize the city in your head.
In Kazan, there is a popular and very cheap dining room - "Good Dining". Outwardly, nothing special, the usual stolovskaya atmosphere. They focus on vegetarian food, so they have a lot of unusual dishes. And in general, a cool assortment and always a lot of people. One of the canteens on the main street of Bauman, the rest are scattered around the sleeping areas. After work there is a huge sweat of people who dine and take away.
When was the last time you ate a turnip?
I go to museums selectively, only what is really interesting to me. I don’t go to art galleries and local history for show. In Kazan, went to the museum of Soviet life. A huge and carefully selected collection of Soviet things.
In the village of Old Arakchino, regular buses go there, there is a Temple of all religions. From 1992 to 2013, it was built by the artist and sculptor Ildar Khanov. After his death, his brother and sister continue.
Against the backdrop of rural houses looks surreal.
The idea of the project is to have rooms decorated in the style of the main religions in the temple. Of course, no joint services and prayers. It is more a museum and educational center.
Official authorities and religious institutions do not support builders.
In 2017, the building was slightly burned and the dome and the Orthodox room suffered.
What kind of work is underway and now. Inside, a little chaotic and it seems that what was done without a definite plan. There was an icon somewhere - dragged the icon. Someone drove a statue of Buddha - put it. The outside is much bigger and more impressive than the inside.
Entry 50 rubles. It's bad that there is no one to ask about future plans, what, where, why, and why. The girl who sold tickets knows nothing. On the donation box is an honest and accurate phrase.
