China has opened the coolest library with 1.2 million books
No one likes to read books under foreign gaze, but we are ready to make an exception if we are talking about visiting a stunning new library in China. She has an incredible interior and a huge spherical audience in the middle of the room, resembling a giant eye.
This five-story library is located in the Binhai district of Tianjin City. The Dutch design firm MVRDV worked together with the Tianjin Institute for Urban Planning and Design on its design. The library was dubbed the "Eye of Binhaya." It covers 34,000 square meters and can hold up to 1.2 million books.
Library erected three years. On the ground floor there is a reading area; in the middle part there is a recreation area; offices, computer, conference and audio rooms - at the top. It is difficult to say how productive learning will be within the walls of this library; all our attention would be captured by fantastic architecture.
